World Religions

1. World Religions

The Program was established in 2007 to provide education in world religions with a special focus on Judaism, Christianity, and Indian and Far-Eastern Religions. In the initial years students focus primarily on Islamic studies and then specialize in the history, scriptures, and basic teachings of the major religions of the world. As a part of its curriculum, the Program has language requirements for its students. In addition to Arabic and English, the students, according to their area of interest, are expected to have proficiency in at least one classical language (Hebrew, Syriac, Greek, Latin, Sanskrit, Chinese, Japanese, etc.) and they are encouraged to study modern academic languages such as German and French. This program is the first and only undergraduate degree program of its kind in Turkey.
